May Mission Letter
District Ministries - Missions

Festival of Missions was a time to celebrate the message of God’s love around the world!  Dr. Filimao Chambo shared the message and the Spirit of God as he told us about the African Region.  Follow this link to see and hear Dr. Chambo:  Dr. Chambo WEF.

Our mission presidents were sent home with tools to help them "Set the World on Fire" in their local congregations.  The month of May is focused on the Global Day of Prayer (see article below) and Missionary Medical Health Plan.

The cost of providing insurance for Nazarene missionaries is quite high. In fact, the cost for health insurance alone for a year is approximately $1.9 million, and the costs continue to rise. Yet the Church of the Nazarene wants its missionaries to be able to serve and not worry about where they will scrape up the cost of the next premium.

Nazarene Missions International has helped subsidize some of these funds since as early as 1919. Through your giving to the Memorial Roll, Distinguished Service Award, Gifts from the Heart, and Missionary Health Care plate offerings, you helped offset approximately 23 percent of those insurance costs. Thank you!

The remaining 77 percent of the insurance costs is provided by the World Evangelism Fund. So two important facts to remember are…

  • The more money that comes in for Missionary Health Care, the more money from World Evangelism Fund can be used specifically for evangelism.

  • Giving to World Evangelism Fund affects many aspects of missions in the Church of the Nazarene.

Global Day Of PrayerMay 19th is the Global Day of Prayer -

United by a Prayer for the World, Christians from all over the world, from different cultures and denominations, from many diverse streams will gather in their homes, or where appropriate, assemble in stadiums, public auditoriums and open squares and many will devote portions of their Sunday morning Service to united prayer.

Some meetings will be small. Others will be large, but each one will be praying with the same vision of repentance and hope. As at the first Pentecost, we’ll worship God openly in Christ’s name and pray for the healing and blessing of the nations. As much as possible, we are seeking to gather in places beyond the walls of our church buildings.

On this day we are all praying WITH the world as we pray FOR the world.

Haiti Work & Witness District Trip
District Ministries - Missions
haitian childrenDear Pastors and NMI Presidents,
Over the last two years Work and Witness trips to Haiti have been shaping the lives of people on the Northwest District. During the last year 60 Nazarenes from our area had the opportunity to spend time in Haiti. Our District Project remains focused on Haiti for one final year, and we hope to take a Work and Witness team this summer. The dates of the trip are August 13-24, the cost is $1,800.
We are sending out an SOS, as of today, May 15, we have one spot remaining on the team. If you are interested, please contact Paul Clark immediately ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Call to Prayer
District Ministries - Missions
"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." (2 Chronicles 7:14, NIV)

As we turn our calendars to a new year, our General NMI President, Daniel Ketchum is asking our NMI councils and churches to commit to 6 months of intentional and intensive prayer leading up to our General Conventions.  You can download Dr. Ketchum's letter here If_My_People_Pray_2013_English.pdf

Join with me as we pray for God to move in a supernatural way in 2013.
